The forty-eight minutes in which Ashtami ends and Navami begins are called the sandhi, the meeting point of the two.
Tradition holds that in this moment the Devi appeared as Chamunda and slew Chanda and Munda. Of all Navratri, it is held to be the most powerful moment for prayer.
