80G Tax Exemption

Last updated: 27 April 2026

Donations to Prabhudarshan-listed temples, the Seva Pool and verified causes are eligible for tax deduction under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961. Eligible donors get a 50% deduction on their donated amount when filing their Indian income tax return.

How to get your 80G certificate

  1. Donate via Prabhudarshan (any temple, the Seva Pool, or a verified cause). Razorpay records your PAN if you provide it at checkout — required for 80G eligibility.
  2. Within 7 working days, an 80G receipt is emailed to you with the temple's / trust's registration number, the donation amount, and the donor name as per PAN.
  3. You can also download all your 80G receipts for a financial year from your Account → Donations & receipts.

What you need to provide

  • PAN — mandatory for 80G eligibility on donations above ₹2,000. Without it, the donation still goes to the temple but we can't issue an 80G receipt.
  • Address as per PAN — pre-filled from your Prabhudarshan profile if you set it up; you can override at checkout.

What is NOT eligible for 80G

  • Subscription fees (₹11/mo screensaver, ₹99/yr) — these are paid services, not donations.
  • Pushp darshan, Pandit booking, Home Online Puja and Store orders — these are services / goods you receive in return, not gifts.
  • Donations to temples / trusts whose 80G registration has expired or is under renewal at the time of the gift. We mark these on the temple page so you know in advance.

Filing your return

Use the donee details on the 80G receipt (registration number, trust name, amount, date) when filling Schedule 80G of your ITR. Most donations are 50% deductible (Section 80G(5)); a few designated causes are 100% deductible — that's marked on the receipt itself.

Issues with a receipt?

Email ashish@prabhudarshan.live with the donation transaction ID and we'll regenerate the receipt within 2 working days. If you donated without a PAN and want to add one retroactively, that's possible up to 30 days from the donation date.
